Karamjit Singh: The Pioneer of Rallying in Malaysia.

Karamjit Singh, born on 6th January 1962 in Malaysia, is one of the most renowned names in the world of motorsports. He is considered as the pioneer of rallying in Malaysia and has brought laurels to the country on multiple occasions. He has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious “Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri” by the Sultan of Perak, in recognition of his contribution to the sport of motorsports.


Karamjit Singh’s journey in motorsports began in the early 1980s when he started participating in local rallies. He quickly gained recognition for his skills behind the wheel and began to compete at the national level. He made his international debut in the 1990s and soon became a force to be reckoned with. Karamjit’s success in the world of rallying earned him a place in the Malaysian Motorsports Hall of Fame.


One of Karamjit’s most notable achievements was winning the Production World Rally Championship (PWRC) in 2002. He became the first Asian to win the PWRC and the first non-European to win a major rally. He achieved this feat driving a Proton Wira, which was a locally produced car. Karamjit also won the PWRC in 2004 and finished as the runner-up in 2003.Apart from his success in rallying, Karamjit has also competed in other forms of motorsports,including circuit racing and hill climbs. He has won numerous championships in these categories as well, showcasing his versatility as a racer.
